baa baa bag sheep, twool bags full…
We’ve been very busy over the last couple of months working on a new twool woolly bag. You lucky lot have been able to get your hands on twool shoppers and veg bags for a while, but now we’ve taken them to Waitrose…!
Everyone knows that plastic bags are bad for the environment. But so are jute and hemp ones (more on this another time).
Our bags are different, they are 100% British wool and British made.
They are also stain resistant and waterproof. And pretty.
We’ve used the very latest cloth finishing technology, to ensure these bags are showerproof and long-lasting for use time and time again. We’ve used fully traceable wool from our local regional sheep, worked closely with a Devon based textile designer and our other British manufacturers to create a product that is a beacon of British rural craftmanship.
Laura Strangeway, Manager for Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing at Waitrose, says: ‘We’re thrilled to be supporting both British farmers and heritage manufacturing in such a unique way. Wool is one of the oldest naturally occurring raw materials around and is currently an underused natural resource. The bags twool have created are renewable, sustainable and very practical. We’re passionate about building on our strong working relationships with farmers as well as re-invigorating traditional industries and these bags are an exciting step forward for Waitrose.’
With a luxury twist on the usual shopper, each bag will have an individual production number on the label, and will have the name of the Waitrose shop it was bought from on the front – we are launching these wonderful bags on Monday at Waitrose, Gloucester Road followed by Waitrose Belgravia and Marylebone on Tuesday. We’ll be in store to meet people, so if you’re in the area we’d love to see you!
