Whiteface and Widecombe Fair
We’m off to Widecombe Fair on Tuesd’y next…
It’s been an important date for Dartmoor folk for years – the second Tuesday of September (this year the 8th from 9am) – it was originally the main livestock event of the calendar.
The earliest written account was in 1850 primarily for locally bred Whiteface Dartmoor sheep, now it’s a great place to see local livestock, as well as the beer tent, a tug of war and live music!!
From Whiteface judging to this interesting character – Widecombe Fair has it all!
If you’re popping down, come and find us – we’d love to say hi. You can see the wonderful Whiteface, sample local food and drink and, you never know, you might even see Uncle Tom Cobley an’ all 😉

Hi,
My family and I visited Widecombe for some years ago.
I was about 8 years old (now 55 year).
My mother bought me a warm sheepskin hat.
My son use it now, and maybe soon his son….
It is still in nearly mint condition after all these years ?
