British Flowers Week: Grown Not Flown

Hand up if you don’t like flowers? Everybody loves flowers – bees, butterflies and even sneezy people.

Growing or buying British flowers for your vase might be ‘on trend’ but isn’t it also the most natural thing there is? To get cravings for food when it’s actually in season, to delight in sweet peas at the height of summer (regardless of the weather) or simply to assign certain smells to certain times of the year is something that is inherently part of being in tune with your surroundings.

Everything we do here at twool HQ supports British industries – from farming to manufacturing and packaging. And that’s why we think that #BritishFlowersWeek is so important. It raises awareness of everything that we also believe in…

Rather than mindlessly picking up a bunch of imported flowers, jute twine or Peruvian blueberries stop for a moment and think. Where are they from? Why import such things that you can grow so well at home? Is there a home grown alternative? More often than not, the answer is yes.

This is more than just about supporting British industry – it is about being sustainable and environmentally aware. You also get the best of the season’s flowers to boot! And the best Strawberries in the world!
