Up mill, down dales…
Knee deep in very exciting RHS Chelsea Admin – more on this later – we thought we’d take a break to tell you about Kim and Andrew’s recent trip up North to have a catch up with our manufactures…
First stop? Calders. twool fans will know that Calders lost their mill in last year’s boxing day floods, however, down to their resilience they were back up and weaving our wonderful cloth within weeks. It was great to pop in and see Brendon and Kathryn at the new mill…
Our tour then took us to Edward Hill and Co, our hankers – this is the clever historic card winding machine that Mark Hill uses to wind our twool essentials…
There was even time to pop into Outhwaites where our hand laid rope dog leads are made!
Finally, managed to see some sheep on their way to visiting the British Wool Maketing Board. These Swaledales are gorgeous!
