How does Big Garden Birdwatch work?
It’s just an hour of your time at some point over the weekend of the 29th-31st January. All you have to do is count the birds you see, it makes a huge difference to the RSPB, and you get to have an hour outside in the fresh air to boot! All the info you need, and to register for your pack just visit their fab website here. You can also join in on twitter (haha) or across social media to share your stories. There are plenty of sparrows squabbling here at twool HQ but we’ll be keeping our eyes out for Long-tailed tits as well as Bramblings!
Erm, yeah, they’re squirrels!
National Nest Box Week
As well as feeding the birds, you might want to encourage them to nest in your garden this year. The RSPB have loads of top tips on how you can go about doing this but it is also National Nest Box Week from the 14th February (oh, so *that’s* why love is in the air!?). If you don’t have a nest box, or just want to make the nesting box more attractive, try getting one of our twool Cosy Nests for Birds (and hedgehogs for that matter!) Super sustainable twool nesting wool for birds and hoglets is a by-product from the carding process of our twine manufacturing. Wool makes fantastic nesting materiel and birds collect this fibre in the wild wherever sheep graze. As well as being a cosy liner, it is practical as it doesn’t retain water in the nest and it will fully biodegrade in time.
A helping hand for nest making
Whatever you’re doing as we move towards Feb, keep safe and remember to be kind to yourselves as well as each other. We hope to see you later in the year xx

What a fantastic week! It started with our annual clip collection – a crucial part of the Whiteface to twool story. Andrew arrived and with Charlotte in tow, Kim headed off to Clare Butcher’s farm to collect the first of this year’s clip. We were joined by Adam Henson and the BBC Countryfile crew, when the …
